THERAPEUTIC CONSULTATION
What is Therapeutic Consultation?
Therapeutic consultation (TC) offers professional consultation, including assessments and training, to help individuals with developmental disabilities and those who support them. The goal is to address gaps in skills that prevent individuals from reaching the goals as listed in their Individual Support Plan. TC can include a variety of services, including behavior supports, speech and language services, occupational therapy, and others. Please note that ABC PLLC only provides behavior services at this time.
TC services through ABC PLLC are provided by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Most qualified participants are those with a Developmental Disability (DD/ID) Waiver through Medicaid. There are eight phases to receiving TC services, beginning with intake and evaluation, developing a behavior plan, training support persons, and providing ongoing support, and ending with discharge or discontinuation when support are no longer necessary for the individual to be successful. TC can be provided to reduce challenging behaviors, increase prosocial behaviors, or both. With the Waiver, these services can be billed through Medicaid directly.
